چکیده

State space explosion is still the main problem in the area of model checking. This paper focuses on using beam search, a heuristic search algorithm, for pruning state spaces while generating. Original beam search is adapted to the state space generation setting and two new variants, motivated by some practical case studies, are devised. Remarkably, the resulting framework is shown to encompass A search and some partial order reduction algorithms. These beam searches have all been implemented in the μCRL toolset. Case studies and comparisons with SPIN are also presented.

Extended beam search for non-exhaustive state space analysis

State space explosion is a major problem in both qualitative and quantitative model checking. This article focuses on using beam search, a heuristic search algorithm, for pruning weighted state spaces while generating. New pruning criteria for efficient decoding

In large vocabulary continuous speech recognizers the search space needs to be constrained efficiently to make the recognition task feasible. Beam pruning and restricting the number of active paths are the most widely applied techniques for this. In this paper, we present three additional pruning criteria, which can be used to further limit the search space. These new criteria take into account...

Dynamic Programming-based Search Algorithms in NLP

Dynamic Programming (DP) is an important class of algorithms widely used in many areas of speech and language processing. It provides efficient solutions to seemingly intractable inference over exponentially-large spaces by sharing overlapping subproblems. Well-known examples of DP in our field include Viterbi and Forward-Backward Algorithms for finitestate models, CKY and Earley Algorithms for...

Dynamic Search-space Pruning for T Recognitio

In automatic speech recognition complex state spaces are searched during the recognition process. By limiting these search spaces the computation time can be reduced, but unfortunately the recognition rate mostly decreases, too. However, especially for time-critical recognition tasks a search-space pruning is necessary. Therefore, we developed a dynamic mechanism to optimize the pruning paramet...
